Goal of ACCARE
The facilitation, translation and application of research findings into policy and practice is the over-arching goal for the work of ACCARE.
Guiding Principles
Develop, implement and review a work plan with annual performance indicators, monitor this plan and report outcomes annually to the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research Executive and Board of Directors.
Undertake annual planning for future priorities and foci to guide
the direction of a work plan for the coming year. Annual work plan
will be ratified by ACCARE.
Constitute working parties and facilitate other appropriate mechanisms for discussing and reporting on priority issues that require more detailed and sustained focus than ACCARE can provide.
Drivers/Triggers
The following inform ACCARE's discussion and decision making:
Recognition and Respect for Aboriginal knowledge and experience
- ACCARE's discussions and decision making are in accordance with the NHMRC principles for the conduct of Aboriginal research and Kulunga Research Network's Research Principles.
Capacity Building
- Encouragement of an Aboriginal employment strategy at the Telethon Institute and support for Aboriginal student researchers' opportunities via mentoring links into programs.
Advocacy
- Ensure a strong Aboriginal voice via representation on the Telethon Institute Board.
- Communication of ACCARE's recommendations to the Aboriginal Implementation Board and the key Policy Group (via Professor Fiona Stanley).
